Solid Dosage Forms-Alertadin

Composition:

Each tablet of Alertadin contains: 10 mg loratadine.

Each teaspoonful (5 ml) of Alertadin contains: 5 mg loratadine.

Properties:

Alertadin is a non-sedating antihistamine. It works by selectively binding to peripheral histamin H1-receptors on effector cells so it does not cause sedation.

Alertadin has rapid oncet of action and exhibits an antihistaminic

effect lasting not less than 24 hours promoting once daily dosing.

Indications:

Alertadin used in these cases:

  • Pneumonia.
  • Allergic rhinitis.
  • Pruritus.
  • Urticaria.
  • Sneezing.
  • Allergic conditions.
  • Lacrimation.

Dosage:

  • Adult and children above 6 years :

One tablet or 2 teaspoonful (10 ml) once daily. Maximum dose is 10 mg per day.

  • Children (2 - 5 years): 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) once daily.
  • Hepatic and renal impairment: 10 mg every other day.

Contraindications:

Alertadin is not used in these cases:

  • Hypersensitivity to loratadine.
  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding.
  • Children less than 2 years.

Side effects:

These side effects rarely occure such as:

  • Headache.
  • Fast or irregular heart beats.
  • Dry mouth.

Precautions:

Tell your doctor if you have:

  • Severe hepatic damage.
  • Epilepsy.
  • Renal insufficiency.

Drug interactions:

Tell your doctor if you take other medicines such as:

  • Cimetidine.
  • Erythromycin.
  • Ketoconazole.
  • Clarithromycin.
  • Quinidine.
  • Fluconazole.
  • Fluoxetine.

Package:

Each box of Alertadin tablets contains: 1 × 10 Tablets. Each bottle Alertadin syrup contains: 60 ml or 120 ml. Storage:

Store Alertadin tablets in a dry place at a temperature below 30 C. Store the bottle tightly closed and at a temperature below 30 C.
