Composition:
- Each film coated tablet of AZROMAX 500 contains:
500 mg of Azithromycin as Dihydrate.
- Each capsule of AZROMAX 250 contains:
250 mg of Azithromycin as Dihydrate.
Properties:
Azromax belongs to a class of antibiotics called azalides. It acts by inhibition of protein synthesis in bacteria.
AZROMAX demonstrates activity against a wide range of
bacteria including: Gram-positive aerobic bacteria, Gram-negative aerobic bacteria and Anaerobic bacteria.
Indications:
AZROMAX is indicated to treatment these cases:
- Upper respiratory tract infections including otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis and pharyngitis.
- Lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and pneumonia.
- Mouth and teeth infections.
- Skin and soft tissues infections.
- Uncomplicated genital infections.
- Typhoid fever.
Dosage:
Dose should be taken at least an hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.
- Adults:
500 mg as a single dose once daily for 3 days Or 500 mg initially followed by 250 mg daily for 4 days.
- Genital infections due to Chlamydia trachomatis: 1 gm as single dose.
- Typhoid fever: 1 gm once daily for 5 days.
Contraindications:
AZROMAX is contraindicated in these cases:
- Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin and any macrolide antibiotic.
- Severe hepatic insufficiency.
Side effects:
Gastro-intestinal disturbances such as:(nausea, vomiting ,dyspepsia and abdominal pain).
Precautions:
Tell your doctor in these cases:
- Severe liver or kidney problems.
- Severe heart problems.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Drug Interactions:
Tell your doctor if you take any of the following:
- Digoxin
- Terfenadine
- Phenytoin
- Aluminum and magnesium-containing antacids.
